My lamp needs a new 3-way on/off switch and a new cord for the outlet hook-up, how do I de-tach the original and re-attach a new one ??!!

You have to take the whole lamp apart. When doing this remember where the parts go. The bottom has a cardboard bottom, take it off, there should be a nut that holds the center tube in place that the wire goes threw. Make sure lamp is unplug, the rest pulls apart. The wires are fastened to the lamp bulb switch on the bottom. You get the idea.
