my audiovox d1708 portablde dvd player is not reading dvd but it read the cd, the workman concludes that the laser lens is bad. where can i get a laser lens for this unit ?

I think that you actually need a complete DVD laser as the CD laser appears to be working. You may be able to find a repair shop that can fit a generic part but repairs on budget budget boxes like these are rarely worth the cost. Even under warranty I would not expect the box to be repaired but rather replaced.
