You will need to reflash the firmware to format the player, see the answer I've just posted to question 'Matsui 120MR 2GB mp3 problem?' for details of where to get the firmware.

Use the DOS command prompt whilst the player is connected to your PC,if the player is drive f,type format f: . This worked with mine when it was in a frozen state and inaccessible in windows.
