how can i fix my fridge freezer?

basically i have had a fridge freezer which down exactly 2 months the compressor has stopped this is what i have been told is there in which this can be fixed?

if it is the compressor, it will be expensive,
if it wasnt an expensive appliance you should just go get a new one..

may be worth getting an engineer to have a look at it..
