I have just successfully replaced the bulb in a Sagem hd45.
First make sure its the correct bulb.
Remove the housing containing the bulb as described in the USER manual.
Note how the retaining spring, which holds the bulb, is fitted.
Remove the old bulb from the plastic housing-BUT- first disconnect the cables and leave them in place.
The new bulb comes with cables installed and a spare glass fuse which must replace the (blown)one at the top of the bulb case.
Remove the cables from the new bulb and fit the new bulb into the plastic bulb container and fit the retaining spring.
Connect the old cables to the new bulb.
Fit the bulb (do not touch the front of the bulb) in its container to the TV as specified in the users manual.
If you try to remove the old cables from the plastic bulb holder you will probably break if where the two pin plug is. If you do, you can fiddle the plug into the appropriate socket inside the TV as the bulb container is slid in. But its easier I think to keep the old cables in the bulb container.

Hi, excellent info. Is one supposed to remove the tin foil after reset, or is it okay to leave it on?

Thanks

my bulb holder didnt have a fuse to replace, and the replacement bulb wasn't recognised by the tv, but i noticed a small ciruit board at the bottom right corner where the bulb holder slides into the tv (in the tv itself) i got a small piece of tin foil twisted it to make a tiny wire and cut a piece of electrical tape (about 1cm square), on the small circuit board there are 2 small square metal area's, i joined them up with the tin foil and stuck it in place with the tape, crossed my fingers and switched the tv on, PRESTO it works as good as new now and it cost me nothing at all!!!, that must be the reset switch for my type of tv without the fuse on the bulb holder. hope this helps, let me know :)

Richard Green, May 2008
You have to change the fuse in the bulb holder. See AVforum for the various debates for amperage though. Some say it is 500ma other 317ma.

Does anyone know how to get into factory mode to reset the lamp counter?

Keith, October 2007
I have the same problem, the issue is with resetting the lamp counter.
Anyone know how to achieve this?

Keith, October 2007
I have the same problem, phoned sagem and they were not very helpful at all. I'll try and find out what is causing the problem, could be the tv needs to be reset before it activates the new bulb.

By the way are you sure your bulb has blown?. Mine looks ok, but according to the tv manual and flashing red light I need a new bulb, just got installed it but same problem as you. ;-(
