On 14/07/2006 I bought a Sovereign grass trimmer from "Homebase" situated at Balloo Retail Park, Balloo Link, Bangor, County Down BT19 7HJ. Telephone 0845 6407185.

The wire core of the grass trimmer was broken in May 2007. I went back to Homebase and they told me to contact Sovereign because Sovereign brand will be able to replace the core for me

Yes very true, I have not long brought a Sovereign strimmer from Homebase and the core cable broke. The strimmer is one which changes heads and I brought the collection NOT CHEAP!! I have owned the strimmer for 4 months now and Homebase will NOT replace the strimmer!!

Hi I had the very same problem and for a year I hadnt been able to use it homebase was no help whatsoever, but I tried all different spools till I got one to fit glad to say I did it is from B&Q their own make it is product number RY 400 it says on the packet to fit Performace Power PWR400DGTA Electric Trimmer It works great, hope this is of some help

Sems to be the stock answer from Homebase asI have just tried to get a replacement part myself. They did give me an e-mail address of the firm but it is in Hong Kong !!
Was it the spool (what you put the string on ? or the red cover ?)
