Flame failure suggests something is wrong with either the gas, spark or flame recognition system all of which fall under the gas regulations and are therefore not d.i.y.
Check what is happening through the inspection window. (1)If there is no spark it could just be an electrode lead or loose connection.(2) If there is a spark and no flame it's a gas problem.
(3)If there is a flame but it then goes to lockout it's a flame recognition fault.
For (1) just check that the thick red lead and the thick white leads are not loose.
For 2/3 you will need to call someone in.
