Mend a light switch?

My light switch has one red one black and one green/yellow wire the yellow/green and black have come undone the red is intact where do the wires go?

Just to let you know that the black wire in the switch would normally be the switch wire not the neutral ,if it were the neutral then this would cause a dead short and blow the circuit breaker!( the switch wire should have a red marker on it to show that it becomes live on operation)

Make sure you turn off the electricity first!

Right depending on how your house is wired, the red cable should be either in the top or the bottom connector of the switch. This is your live cable. The Black one is your neutral and should fill one of the remaining holes left in the back of the switch. The back of the switch has a black plastic housing there are two connectors the black and red wire can be in either of these.

And the Green and Yellow wire should be inserted into a brass terminal that is located on the back metal plate behind the socket.
