theres a chance that the cable that links the standby button and the open disk drive button to the ps2 is broken. to check remove the 8 little things on the bottom of the ps2 and unscrew the screws. then put the ps2 up right and lift up the back of it and slide forward and then have a look. if it is broken then unfortunently your ps2 wont work anymore and you will have to get a new one.
