Fault pumps fine, belt fine, motor brushes fine, water pressure fine, wifes annoyed.

however the motor will not turn on any cycle, have proved the motor by directly powering the motor, and this spins fine, have checked the stats ( preostats ??) at the top of the machine by blowing on them and you can hear the distinct clicking noise. Have now run out of ideas and suggestions from all the forums I have looked at. Help please, James

I suspect this will be the drum bearing gone. I've had this twice now on my 3 yr old machine - it seems to be a weakness.
Also - unlike most machines - the bearing is integral with the rear half of the tub so that has to be replaced as well apparently, though a local guy did replace the bearing alone after a lot of cobbling as the Zanussi service people were all for writing the machine off as an uneconomic repair. They quoted about £150.
Was it screeching or rumbling on spin before it seized?
