they are ripping you off parts and labour should be no more then £80 - £100

I unclipped the flowswitch, tested it by pressing and releasing the switch. I then made sure that the flowswitch was pushed fully into its holder. All works OK now.

You can buy a flowswitch from:

http://www.boilerparts.co.uk/Results.aspx?PageNum=1&PageSize=15&searchtype=5&manu=ALPHA&manuid=111&app=CB24X+BOILER&ap

I think this is a bit dear so I am just going to try to buy the switch from CPC rather than the holder as well.

Plumbers are a rip-off. £300-00 to replace a switch?? I don't think so.

ive had the same problem . its the hot water flow switch . undo the 2 screws in the front panel . (drops down ). the switch is located on the main valve (black plastic ). it clips around the valve . using two small screw drivers i stripped and cleaned it up . checked with a multimeter. ok then refitted . boiler works all ok now ...
just be carefull with the switch as its quite fragile ...

you require replacement of divertor valve approx cost £129.00 + VAT.

Hi we also have the same problem with our alphaCB24X. We were advised by a plumber to buy a new boiler rather than pay so much for a tiny component

I had the same problem. The hot water flow switch contacts had gone. I can't believe it will cost £300 pounds to fix. It is a small job - simply the replacement of a small (but special shaped) microswitch.

i have the same boiler as you with same problems but i am doing a house extension so i have to upgrade to a new system anyway but the plumber told me its a diaphram in the boiler that could be the problem he said he put the pressure up in the boiler which was up above the green a good bit and this would help until you get it fixed but he said you are looking at £300 to £400 to fix it,so you will be better getting anothe boiler etc glowworm / vokera with a 2 year garentee a straight replacement old boiler out and new one in hope this helps.
