CONNECTIONS?

I have the following

Toshiba RPTV with 3 scarts sockets
Video VHS
Phillips DVDR
Phllips DVD Player
Cable Box
Security Cam for outside

what i want on my system is to be able to tape record on both dvdr and video normal tv ie bbc1 bbc2 itv, ch4, ch5

to be able to record from the cable box to dvdr, be able to watch what i have recorded on the dvdr.

be able to view my camrea which is based in back garden

here is what i thought would work

connect the dvd on it;s on to scart av2,
which now leaves 2 scarts free

connect the cable box by scart to the dvdr, then the dvdr to the the tv by av1, the ariel lead would go into the dvdr, from the dvdr into the video from the video into the back on the tv.

which now leave 1 scart which would connect the cam from outside into the video and the video into av3

so it would be like this

DVD ------> TO TV (AV2)
CABLE ----> TO DVDR ----->TV (AV1)
CAM-------> VIDEO------> TV (AV3)
EXTERNAL ARIEL----->DVDR----->VIDEO---->TV SOCKET

Would this setup allow me to be able to do what i want to do.

I have also been told i can free up a scart port on the back on the tv by putting the DVD Player at the top of the daisy chain.

like this DVD PLAYER---->CABLE----->DVDR------>TO TV so all that goes into av1, would that cause any problems would i be able to still record cable tv to my dvdr i know whatever unit is on that would appear on screen but how would i watch cable and record from the dvdr without just the dvdr showing on the screen, all gets a little bit confusing i might be wrong or might be right on the setup i just need to know if it will work

cheers in advance

Does your cable box have loop through? If it has two scart sockets one labled TV the other VCR it probably has. This would allow you to share TV(1) for cable box and one other appliance.

In which case you could try:
Cable(1) -> TV(1)
Cable(2) -> DVDR(1)
VCR(1) -> TV(2)
DVD -> TV(3)
Cam -> DVDR(2) or VCR(2)
