well i have one of these and read the comments
i did mine a different way
took off the lid

then looked all around
there is a white plastic lump inside the casing directly behind the door handle
i disconnected power and fiddled around with this from the top
you reach just past it and there is a part that moves lift this up around the 3 oclock position viewed from front of machine it comes up about qtr or half an inch and the door pops

just put a wash on after coming back from greece (door jammed when sister stayed house sitting and used machine and will see if it opens or i have to rig a string or something and drill a hole in the lid so i can open it that way in future. cheers

The only way i would guess to open your door would be to take the lid off and put the pecker back in the correct position. You might find that the pecker that sits on the belt at the motor isn't in the correct position. It has to be pointing at 6 oclock for the door to open. When the machine starts a cycle the pecker is moved by the belt to 7 oclock and in this position the door cannot be opened. When the machine has finished it's cycle the pecker is meant to return to the 6 oclock position to enable the door to be opened but for some strange reason, it doesnt always do this. I used to have this problem with my machine, but after renewing the spring clip, that holds the pecker to the motor, it has been behaving itself. Hope this explanation helps.

Not too hard.

Machine should be empty (of water - spin it out if you have to). Turn it to lying partly on its side - say 45 degrees to the left, as you face it. Mains electicity off. Reach inside through the hole in the bottom. Find the black cable which controls the latch. It loops down from the top of the machine and back up to under the latch. Move the whole cable upwards, so it pushes towards the latch. Actuate the door latch, preferably meanwhile. Door should open.

There is a "paddle " device at the top of the machine, into which this cable runs. If it is not working properly, the door will always not open. Its mysteries are not always clear to me. They could be the subject of a separate essay
