How can I fix my Kenmore Series 80 wash machine, will not spin?

My Kenmore Series 80 Wash Machine will not go to the spin cycle. It does agitate prior to spin cycle. What part do I need to replace?

My Kenmore 80 series washer does not spin dry the clothes like it use to. you can ring water out of the towels, any ideas?

Ok, I'm back. What you need is called a lid switch. Go to the following site: http://www3.sears.com/

Click on the link for washers and type in your model number. In the next window type in "switch". From there you should find the part you need. The cost for my part is $14. Hope this helps!

Hello John,

I have the same problem too and I know exactly what's causing it. There's a plastic piece that is broken which is a safety feature under the lid which allows the washer to spin when the lid is closed. Open your lid and look for a hole at the top of your washer. Feel around underneath or use a mirror and you should see where the piece broke off. It's a spring loaded switch. What I did for a quick fix was stick a clothespin to keep the switch open. I came across your inquiry when I was doing a search for the part to replace the switch. When I find one I'll let you know!
