ceiling light fault - 2 way with dimmer not working?

Hi,

We have a ceiling light fitting (brass, 2 bulbs) which isn't lighting. It's on a 2-way switch, one of the switches is a dimmer. I turned it on, light for a second then it popped (both bulbs). I've replaced both bulbs (and checked them, both fine), and checked the switches and ceiling fitting and can't see any wiring problems - although I'm *no* expert.
I suppose it could be a failure of one of the electrical components or the wiring, but I don't know how to go about checking. Can anyone help me?

Hi..... Check that you do not have a small fuse in the rear of the dimmer switch, as some dimmer models have them.Make sure you turn the power off to the lighting circuit at the DB ( fuse board) Replace the fuse and see if that rectifies the problem

If the fuse pops again, try changing the dimmer to a normal light switch and see if that cures the problem ...if it does then your dimmer switch could be faulty.
