The USB connections on side of laptop computer have four metal electrical contacts on upper side, and two tension tabs on bottom. Sometimes poor contact is a problem, one can with a tiny screw driver set carefully bend these lower tension tabs up slightly to improve, or restore contact for plug in devices. A small adjustment of tab is recomended, try plug in device, then if needed a slight upward bending of tabs, till satisfactory electrical contact is acheived. Caution if bent up to much it would block plug in device.
