I am a service engineer for hoover candy.
The sparks are caused by the brushes wearing out.
Just get a set of brushes. £10 approx. Dead easy to fit. 10 minute job.

Hi I had that problem with my machine too. It was the motor, something had worn away or something and was causing it to spark. I had to get a new motor put in and thats fixed it.
