i have an advent 7098 with a philips sdvd8441 rw drive the drawer wont stay shut and the drive does not recognise any disks i had a message saying (unable to load playlist does .ini exist it must contain a section [movies] with an entry movie01=pathname .dir) not sure if this is the reason as only showed message once

This is probably a mechanic error with the drive causing both problems. It may be possible to fix it but difficult, it's it within it's warranty period then send it back and replace it, if not buy another one and try and find someone into computers who's got time to fiddle with it to try and get it working. I can sometimes fix them, but it may well take more time to fix than is worth the cost of it (assuming work at UK minimum wage!)
