My slimline ps2 is able to read audio cds but when i try and play Ps2 games it says 'the disc could not be read'...the discs have some light scratches,so im thnkng it may be my laser.

Hi, because its a different kind of media and the laser reads different media differently. The lasers have a DVD side a CD side. There is usually more wear on the DVD side because the majority of newer games are DVD games.
