Metronic Digi-Scart Freeview Receiver MET720?

I just purchased this yesterday and have set it up OK. The picture on the tv has gone to widescreen instead of normal (it is only a small portable tv). I have checked the setting for this and it is correctly set to normal. How can I get a full picture.

Secondly, the tv is now making a loud humming noise - what is causing this - I have moved all electronics away from it so there should be no interferance.

for the hum, turn the volume down on the tv remote and up on the freeview remote

Its quite normal to see 'letter boxing' when viewing Freeview programmes on a 4:3 TV because the programmes are mostly transmitted in widescreen. To double check, watch the Simpsons on Ch45 because that is transmitted in 4:3 and should fill your screen. To fill the screen (but people will look fat) when receiving a widescreen programme you need to look for a Zoom function.

As to the hum. If the hum goes away when you unplug the Met720 then it is faulty and should be returned. (They are not repairable.)
