What's wrong with my extractor fan?

I have a bathroom with an extractor fan, which comes on shortly after you switch the main light on, and goes off shortly after you switch it off. however the extractor fan is now permanently on, why is this

A double pole switch isolates the live feed and neutral together. This is a safety feature for maintenance purposes. If your fan is running continuously after previously working properly then there is a fault in the timing circuit board of the fan. Be sure you mean continuous as the timers can be set to run for up to 40 mins on average depending on user settings. If it is continuous then it is irepairable and needs to be changed.

Hi Chris, yes it is a pull cord for the light . . .
Please can you advise what U/S means, and where to locate the double pole switch?? are they expensive and where can you buy these??

If that doesn't work what else could it be??

Thanks

Soraya ... do you switch the light on using a pull cord switch? .. If you do then there's a good chance this double pole switch which powers the extractor fan is U/S and needs changing. (Double pole=one side will power the light and the other will power the fan)
