The element is simply a push-fit into the thin, plastic, front cover of the drum assembly and is unsecured. It took some effort to remove the old element, disturbing the sealing compound between the plastic front and the metal drum-casing and causing the machine to leak. The manufacturer has shown an impressive talent for economy in both the design and the specification for the materials used in this critical section of the machine. If we can re-seal the thin plastic front to the drum-housing, it should be OK.
