My hot water only works when my central heating is turned on,any ideas,thanks

it could be the hot water heat exchanger or the diverter valve. Probably the exchanger though. It is not easy to clear it but it is possible. you will need to get a gas man in. My hubby was corgi reg when we lived in England. Am in france now.
