My DVD player will no longer play dvd's?

I have a DVD/Video player for some reason my DVD player just stopped playing dvd's. The message that comes up says, DVD will not play please check DVD. This happens with every DVD I put in the player. Is it time to just toss it out? Samsung is the brand name.

Thanks

This has happened to me twice.
Both times I solved the problem by not referring to item as a DVD player ever again.
I call them ornaments now.

I find too that my electricity consumption is slightly lower too.
So I take consolation in that as well.

Technical Note: I think it was the light inside that reads the disc, that fails. You can a buy new one for $15, a miniature screwdriver set at $10.00, anti-static mat $20 and then take it apart, etc. You'll need a soldering iron, some solder, also flux.
Some understanding of basic electronics would help, so I'd add an e-book to that list.

A few hours later you'll wished you'd called it an ornament. Now you'll have to settle for calling it a broken ornament.

Best to just paint it a nice color.
