Panasonic TX28DK20F (EURO4H CHASSIS)?

Since yesterday our tv set won't turn on, we always use the front switch.
After pushing front switch the tv makes the same startup sound, but then returns to standby (LED on).
This problem is intermittent...
The tv set has always been a problem, bad contacts on AV connections (sometimes black and white),EW correction also faulty, sometimes no vertical deflection (a bang on the set resolves this).

I bet it's full off bad contacts...

Can anyone provide me with a possible solution for the standby problem, I can live with the other problems but I mentioned them because maybe they are related?

Thanks in advance Danny.

Anyone have this faulty??

You will need to take it to a service engineer for repair.

Usually, only the IC fails. You cannot test it with a multimeter.

Occasionally, R555 a fusible safety resistor goes open circuit and MUST be replaced with the original manufacturer's part. No substitute resistor is acceptable. The IC would still be replaced, with the resisitor.

Do not consider attempting repair unless qualified to do so.
The fault is easily corrected by a qualified TV engineer.

Thank you for your quick response.
This fusible resistor, what is it exactly, a resistor in the same circuit/ vicinity of IC451?
Can I test both components with an ordinary multimeter?

Thanks in advance,

Danny.

The fault is almost certainly failure of IC451 vertical output IC and/or fusible resistor.

Simple repair. Est. £65.

(PS. Black and white on AV2 is usually because the AV2 has been inadvertently switched to AV2S (S-Video). Use the green fastext button to switch S-Video on/off)._
