probably best to buy a new pull switch only a few pund and only 3 wires live neut and earth. earth to own point in unit and live neut in switch itself.

what type fixture? porcelin fix. replace whole light fix. other styles can b removed from wall socket and replaced.switches can b obtained at hard ware store.knurled ftg. on outer side of light removes them from fixture. depend on style how u remove.take old part to get new will have to b exact to replace.

easy go to woolworths and buy a replacement switch for less than 2 quid and get someone competent to fit it- its 3 wires to fit dead easy

Its best to buy a new one - but have a look at how many terminals there are inside first as there are two types - single and double pole.
