How can I fix my older hoover steam cleaner?

I have an older Hoover Steam Vac Cleaner. It worked well until Friday when i filled the detergent tank, walked to the spot on the rug I wanted to clean and the cleaner let the entire contents run right into the carpeting. Now the steam cleaner won't keep the cleaning solution in its tank. Help!

Did you find a source to repair your problem?-which is the little spring/valve which inserts on both sides of the clean solution tank. I have the problem you describe with the detergent tank. So I put the detergent in the clean water tank until I find a spring replacement fot that tank.

I just repared my relatively new Hoover with a new motor. I am not an expert, but it sounds to me as if you have a seal / o-ring issue. I bought my motor from this website and am happy with its operation (hurricane Dennis flooded my den).

This link takes you to my model number, perhaps you can use some of these parts.
