What does a tacho fault mean on AEG 86720? Brushes replaced?

Our AEG 86720 failed showing the dreaded C9 fault. Repair man changed brushes but does not know how to reset the programmer.

Then he's not a repair-man!

The tacho is the round magnet on the back of the motor. It tells the module the motor's speed.
