my Play station 2 is not reading the games?

My son has dropped his play station 2 on the floor and although it still switches on it no longer reads the disks. It can no longer rean any game information. Can anyone help with what I can do to fix it or if I need to give up and buy him a new one for his birthday.

That happened to mine. It works intermittently now, jsut pot luck when the cogs are lined up I think. Probably best to get a new one tho

its most likely the laser eye, you can buy new 1s on ebay , but can be tricky to fit, might be better getting ur hands on a 2nd hand ps2
