I have a T2742 and don't want to pay $30 to reboot it, if you can help, please respond.

OK, you want to clear your entire PC, correct?
The best way to do this is too remove EVERYTHING (uninstall) on your PC. Then put your Windows XP disk in and start installing componets one by one. Good luck.
