I have a pentium 3 computer with windows xp professional,at the moment for some unknown reason ,when logging on I do not get my start menu up, instead it goes straight to background. I then have to get to task manager to access the internet,which by doing it this way doesnt allow me to get into all programmes.I do not have the xp disc as I bought this computer second hand about a year ago.

is the toolbar at the bottom?
it might be a thing to do with your monitor size settings
Have you tried making them smaller?
so theres a black line all around it?
