My computer got struck by malware and spyware?

A couple of days ago my computer got struck by malware. I cleaned it up but no luck. So what I did was, I reinstalled Windows XP. After installing it only I found that all the files in 'My Documents' folder have disappeared. But the folder of other users are in tact and nothing has happened to them. I can see the folder but can't open it and it says 'Empty'. Is there any way that I can tract down these files? Your help is much appreciated.

no there is no way to get those files back unless you take sdit to a pro to restore those files. the system restore program on windows xp will not restore them. i had the same problem-as i repair computer- maleware stays in computer til you do a clean swipe.(sometimes it does)
wish you luck. -another tip for you... keep all your important files in a new folder inside your primary drive(if you have a secondary drive keep the files in there) .
this way if you have to install windows again you will not have that same problem-your files will be safe and secure.
