Hi Roy,
Accidently came across your message...
I have a Baxi Solo 3 PFL since April 2003, with only the one serviceman call-out to date, namely:
I had a similar problem to the one you describe (water not being heated) in Sept 2006. The first serviceman fitted a replacement air pressure switch at a part cost of Euro 62, but 3 days later the problem recurred. The second serviceman fitted a replacement Honeywell type VR4061T switching unit at cost of Euro 140 from Interparts. Because the first serviceman had wrongly diagnosed the problem, I was refunded the cost of the air pressure switch and the call-out cost of both visits.
As the second serviceman told me (& I wrote it down, hence the detail) if all previous lights come on BUT the burner light does NOT, the problem is most likely a faulty air pressure switch. If, however, the burner light DOES come on, there is definitely NOT a problem with the air pressure switch. After some testing of the system, he fitted the replacement Honeywell unit because ALL lights did come on, but he found that the gas did not flow.
Hope this could help, now or in the future
