Halstead Finest Gold Combi Boiler water going cold / heating locking out?

The water is only luke warm even though i have turned the temp up and the central heating will start up and run then somtimes lock out with the red light flashing.
I have the pressure gauge on 2 bar and its holding, when you listen to the boiler when its firing it tries to light several times before cutting out
Any ideas

Hi guys have any of you tried removing the heat exchanger and giving it a clean out. Leave it to soak in some cleaning fulid and the then replace. These get blocked and cause all sorts of problems. Also if you are loosing preasure with no leaks it is more than likely your expansion vessel. You can check the air preasure and prime it up with a bike pump. Also advise flushing your radiator sytem and then when you empty it out top it up with inhibitor fluid to stop the rust and sludge traveling through your boiler. Had a lot of problems with my halstead finest gold boiler and had a lot of engineers telling me I need a new boiler or they dont no what the problem is. It is 12 years old and has only ever had a pressure release valve fitted as a new part. I found my boiler issues were just poor maintance and poor servicing that led my boiler to have a lot of the same problems you guys are having. Hope this helps.

The problem was the expansion vessel on my Halstead instead of buying an expensive one especially for the Halstead boiler we purchased a bigger 12 L vessel and link directly to the heating and it's now perfect

I hope this helps in some way, I had the same probs with mine, i replaced the diverter valve, cleaning the 2 feed pipes aswell as a little calcium had built up in the ends, 2 thermisters/2 flow switches/auto air vent/pcb and igniition leads, and still it did not work, only 1 thing left THE AIR PRESSURE SWITCH which someone mentioned some where on this site, THANKS, ITS NOW WORKING A TREAT, its now like a new boiler with all the new bits added, and it should last a few years more now,

I had a similar problem some years ago on a Halstead Finest combi, when I had just bought the house. After my engineer did what he could following calls to Halstead, it was still a problem. I found that there is a little cap on the top of the outer boiler casing that I think blanks a test point for flue gases. It had been left off - refitting it cured the problem.

I have had one of these boilers for seven years and rue the day I purchased a combination boiler. Recent problems have seen expensive repairs for injectors and overflow valve and now random cut light the same as your problem. Engineer states control panel £200+ or gas valves £150+ but no gaurantee on either will work. Is there such a thing as an efficient combi boiler as unfortunately my house layout and cost forbids the fitting of a conventional system?

I had a similar problem a while back - turned out to be the PCB which are quite expensive.
However give the Halstead service line a ring they are usually very helpful as the fault could be one of a couple of things. The number I have is 01926 834834.

Hi Barry,
Mine is doing exactly the same, saw your question as I was searching! Let me know if you find the answer please. Ive serviced it and Im thinking about changing the changing the thermister on the dhw. Good luck,
