Panasonic Panasonic NV-VHD1 Error F498?

My combined Video player / Dvd player has developed a fault after 12 months, I only used the DVD around six times in this period. I get the error F498 on the Dvd has stopped the DVD unit from working as the tray does not open and refuses to do anything with the remote or the buttons on the unit.
Thanks, regards Mike

Press and hold POWER button and plug it in the wall socket. Hold it all the way until the "Welcome ...goes away and says "NO DISC"..

I did re-fluxed the IC37001 2 years ago and worked for me than but now..hmm was not sure and did the classics...RESET and it looks that it worked for me this time..

I think it happens when DVD plays in the sub MENU loop for several hours..than you take DVD out switch off and than it comes with F498.

gosh I really was getting so angry at thos F498 thing and althoguh I don't have an answer I have found numerous times that if you leave it for a while as in days or weeks then it just works again coming up with the easysetup. when it does happen I don't know if it helps but i press all the buttons on the remote and the DVD player itself so that could be the answer. Finally I turn it on and off lots and lots of times and it does come on eventually. If worst comes to worse then you can't watch a movie for a while but i prrmise my DVD player is yonks old and the F498 has happened many a time and its working now!!

It's a job for an engineer with smd reflow equipment.
The solder to the Flash ROM IC37001, needs to be reflowed.
If it still won't power up, the decoder pcb. would be the next suspect.
