PILOT LIGHT KEEPS GOING OUT on POTTERTON PUMA 80?

Hi,
Can You help me please ?

The Pilot Light on my Puma 80 keeps going out.

If I switch on my Central Heating and run it for about 30 minutes or more, and THEN decide to run the hot water as well, to wash the dishes or take a shower for example; as soon as I turn the hot water off, I hear a CLICK and the pilot light goes out.

This happens EVERY time I run the hot water while the central heating is switched on.

The pilot light is perfectly fine if I just run the central heating on its own, or if I just run the hot water on its own.

But as soon as I have them both on at the same time, the pilot light goes out.

Any Ideas ?

My system pressure is fine, between 1 - 2 Bars, there are no leaks of any kind and no funny noises.

Thank You

i have the same problem with mine and after checking the faukt finding sheet i have im led to believe its the dhw temp sensor and after looking at it it appears it could be as its letting water by as furred up so good place to start

OK, so my boiler problem is fixed. Not the thermocouple. In the end it was simply that the heat exchanger was clogged and not letting the water flow through fast enough. This was leading to overheating and cutting out. It was cleaned in acid overnight and washed out now works a treat.

This same thing is happening to me right now! Having had problems with my central heating as well, I have had a new pump and diverter valve fitted. My heating has been fine since but have had problem of pilot clicking out just after running hot water....? Just as you describe - so I don't think your problem is the diverter valve. Today, my heating has stopped working again to boot! I have heard the suggestion it is the thermocouple?? Anyway, I sympathise as I am getting seriously fed up with my boiler!

Only the pilot light goes out...

I may have the answer, are you saying pilot goes out or the whole thing shuts down and locks out (light on panel?)

it sounds like the wax capsul in the diverter valve

I have one and i am getting rid of the boiler as it is very difficult to repair, my pilot light gave me similar problems.
