on tv dvd combo, the dvd tray no longer opens- with manual button or w/ remote. makes a noise but nothing appears to move. any suggestions?

Try this. It works with some brands.
Power on the unit. Using the Remote Control, Press and hold the 'STOP' button for about 5 seconds, Release and then press the 'OK' button.

If this doesn't work, the tray track may be worn or misaligned.
