If your talking about the verge then no, but a 50mm overhang at the eave level into the gutter is essential

Yes.
The slating felt should extend over the top edge of the fascia board. Otherwise any rain which does make it past the tiles will run down the felt and down the back of the fascia, rotting it and the soffit.
