e machine wont start up?

older pentium 3 e machine won't start up. Starts up, however, always shuts down before windows has time to start. Acts funny. When it shuts down the cd drives start blinking and the floppy drive makes noise. Have to manually unplug computer from wall each time and let it sit for several minutes before attempting to start up again.

I'd agree with Andy, it sounds like the power supply is struggling.
If you are trying to mend it yourself then disconnect the tower completely from the mains, open up the case and try disconnecting the cd drives power cables to reduce the start up power.
While you've got the case apart give it a quick dust off, try to avoid using the vacuum cleaner though as the static can damage your PC.
Put the case back on and power it up.
If it starts ok without the cd drives then buy a new power supply.

hi it sounds like you have an over heating problem!
my have a fan full of dust! or not running open the pc and check to see if the fans are running!
But!!! Do not open the power supply box, as if you touch one of the cappasiters in it it will kill you!!! are seriusly hurt you. my advice is if you are not shure about doing this leave it to an expert!!

hope this helps.

I'd suggest you buy a new PSU as it sounds like a similar problem i had a few months back and since i changed mine it's worked fine with no problems.
