My Sanyo VPC- T850 camera won't stay on?

My Sanyo VCP- T850 camera shuts itself off. It is fully charged but when I go to use it and turn it on it automatically closes the lens and turns off. How can I fix this so I can atually use it?

With the camera lens facing you. Turn it on and when the lens comes out. Twist the back part of the lens Counter Clockwise with moderate pressure/torque. It seems to be some kind of little switch inside the unit that must tell the camera that the lens is full extended. Mine works fine now. I was trained by Sony, on the Camera's circa 1884. Those had all kinds of Stop and Limit Switches.

Same problem as others have described. But try this:

Turn the camera on, and as soon as the lens is fully extended, grab and hold it to prevent it from receding back into the housing. On mine, the power LED then blinked back and forth between green and orange a few times, and then stayed green, the camera stayed on, and now it's working fine.

I'm not sure what the deal is, but I tried this because when it was failing, I noticed that it wouldn't focus properly. I suspect that the software has gotten into an improper state (no idea how), and needs to be reset in some way. For whatever reason, this did it. You have to grab and hold the lens firmly AS SOON as it's out all the way. If it starts to go back into the camera before you stop it, it's already too late.

Hope this works for others....

Same problem here.I would think with so many people having the same problem that they would make it right with evryone. To bad we have to find out almost a year later that the camera is crap!NO MORE SANYO FOR ME!

Have the same problem with a VPC-S770. Sanyo cameras are NO GOOD. The FTC should bring class action lawsuit against Sanyo!

ditto here. I keep trying to use it with a fully charged battery. The lens was open and then for a quick second I was able to get it closed. Other than that ... no change. I am looking for a repair place. It would be nice to have a working camera. $120.. down the drain after only a week of use.
