How can I fix my Ilo 1 GB mp3 player?

when i turn it on the little ilo symbol comes up and then it tells me that "incorrect format, reformatt the player."
Zac Jones, January 2006
I tried that and xp tells me that it cannot format the drive. I also tried chkdsk which says that it does not work on RAW formatted disks.

First of all, do you have the iLo 1GB mp3 player sold by WalMart (as seen here: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4127960 ? If so, continue. This information is based upon that model.

Have you tried formatting the drive letter in Windows Explorer? For example: you open Explorer. You expand the \"My Computer\" icon and see drive C: (you hard disk), drive D: (your CD/DVD/etc), and drive E: (your MP3 player). Right click the icon for the mp3 player and select \"format\". MAKE CERTAIN YOU ARE FORMATTING THE CORRECT DRIVE LETTER! If you accidentally format a hard disk you could permanently lose important data. Note that the drive letters contained in this example may or may not have any bearing on the reality of YOUR computer. I merely provide them as example.
