my thomson top up tv box is on standby mode and will not change to on mode have switched unit off and on and checked batteries in remote control

Power off for 10 secs
add power and hold down standby button on front until amber light constant.
Press Menu and then OK
Wait 90 secs

you should be good. OR

Power off for 10 secs
add power and hold down standby button on front until amber light constant.
Press Up, Down, Left, Right
Green light should flash
wait 90 secs

You should be good. OR

Repeat above multiple times (up to 20)

You should be good. OR

Return to provider. It's knacked!
