How do I operate this #8005 steam cleaner??

I received this item from a friend and there are no operating instructions, and also a few items for steam cleaning my carpet are missing. The model #EK 8005, 120V AC60hz 1350w I think all of this information is correct.

Thank you,
Beth Parisek

I purchased my "Steam Buggy" from AOL nearly ten years ago. I still have the original provided operating instructions. You are supposed to fill the reservoir with tap water only and with the appropriate amount. They included a convenient measuring cup which had a "fill to this line" amount of water. If you don't have this measuring cup, the exact amount is 2-cups of water.
After doing this, turn the unit on and point the end of the steam hose into a sink or tub. The unit will squirt water out until it gets hot enough to produce steam. When it gets to this point you are ready to clean.
After the water has run out of the reservoir, turn off and wait 5-minutes before removing cap to refill with water.
Other than the above, the original instructions are pretty brief, and I don't see any contact for replacement parts. It does have on the instructions, that it was distributed by Tristar Products in Laureldale, Pennsylvania. It was made in China

How do I get a new cap for this model ?

Gordon J Smith, May 2009
1.... check the wands and nozzle by looking through them at a bright light. Should be unobstructed.
2......remove cap that says wait 5 minutes and fill with water. You can go up to the bottom of the threads to the cap,
3........plug in and switch on, the swich should glow red.
4........wait for water to heat up and start steaming out of the nozzle.
5........if you want to quit before all the steam is exhausted switch off, pop off the end nozzle and let the steam go until it runs out.
6...... the ek-8005 which I have was design patented by Chun Ming Chen D522,195 at USPO.
7.......to prevent scale buildup use 50/50 mix of white vinegar occasionally.
8...... grease the cap threads with plumber's lube, the silicone one works best. You can use vaseline too, main thing is to keep the cap from getting frozen from corrosion.
I got this mine 2nd hand without instructions too, but it is after all just a boiler.

just figured it out too...add water, plug it in, and wait for the water to heat. when you're done, turn it off, unplug and wait for machine to cool off.
