We have a ALBA Freeview box and the hand set does not work we get the menu on the screen but the hand set will not select anything at all. We have replaced the batteries and the light does not come on, so therefor we assume the hand set is faulty is there anyway we can check this out or get a replacement?

You can often use a Digital Camera to actually see the signal pulses coming from a TV remote control device.

Look at the remote through the camera viewer as you operate it - no pulses = remote not working.
