Why does my pump still run when my heating is turned off at the timer/controller?

if it only runs for a short time (up to 10 mins) then it's probably just a pump over-run stat or timer, it's used to prevent overheating after the boiler shuts down. if it's constant then it'll be a faulty over-run device.
