I would like to repair my video recorder?

My Goldstar video recorder takes the tape in it runs for a few moments then it ejects the tape sometimes it will ff/rw for a lot longer than it will play please can someone help me? Thankyou.

I am inclined to think that the mode status switch has tarnished contacts a very common problem with goldstar models causes all sorts of problems.

Have you tried new tapes? Usually old tapes will be worn out and will start to damage your VCR by clogging it full of dust. To clean this, buy a tape cleaner and fluid (You might be able to find this at a Maplins Electronic because I got mine from there) and follow the instructions (which are usually provided with it.)
