Computer "beeps"?

Upon starting computer there are 2 "beeps", which is normal, followed by 8 "beeps" and the TFT monitor does not come on, and also "Caps Lock" does not illuminate on keyboard?
If I reset the monitor, it says "No Sync"?
Any ideas?

That is an error code meaning that the POST (Power on Self Test) has failed. If you can get hold of a service manual for the PC it will tell you exactly what the beep code means. If you can't an IBM manual MAY help.
