Emachines have known issues with power. If you have warranty, then please call PC ServiceCall on 0870 901 3000 and you will require a psu as well as a motherboard. Alternative is to buy your own psu and motherboard and fit it in yourself, but its not guaranteed to provide an effective solution.

You are probably referring to a PSU or power supply unit.

It sounds as if the PSU's cooling fan is drawing power by itself, this is not a major issue, but if you want to save the few pence a week this would cost you in electricity, then contact the installer and have the unit replaced.

Have the person who fitted the new 'power box' what ever that is to put it right.
