How do I secure in an internal door handle? ?

The door is an internal door which is hollow and the door handle keeps coming loose because the screws no longer tighten. Does anyone know some tricks/tips?

This has happened because the door has a lock block on only one side of these cheap doors and the muppet that fitted it has put it the wrong way round. 1st buy some small cavity toggle fixings, then following instructions on packet as though you are fitting to a hollow wall. Only temporary repair but more substantial than the previous answer, which I wouldn't recommend.

I have had this problem with a cheap internal door - the screws pull out of the hollow pressed hardboard - precious little material for the screw to grip.

I solved mine but I'm sure it's a temporary fix by drilling out the holes in the metal handle and using bigger diameter screws - it will not be long I'm sure before I have to invest in a better quality solid door rather than a hollow one.

Good luck...
