Please help me I was told to replace the black safety thermostat which I have done and also the fan protector and still have the same problem. Heating is fine but as soon as the hot water starts running boiler displays L E and everything goes off. Would appreciate any help. Thank you

Hello I have Baxi 80 he plus, Had a guy out from baxi who stated he could not work in the area? a bit dusty and tight, anyway he gave me his theory of the problem, which was burner/combustion chamber door/seals faulty. Is this easy to fit for a novice? and will it stop the loud banging from my boiler which I think is abuild up of gas going through the flue. Also main reason for calling out Baxi was to fix the (lockout light) it flashed on-off as boiler failed to spark up. which, is this all connected. Is it just a case of buying a door and fitting it myself?Any help will do cheers.

got a job on a 130he and it's been fine for about 8 years without a problem, but client said that it gave out a dull thump after running the hot water for a short period, I've dismantled it and it's in solid condition if a little dirty!!! several things have failed however ie, the burner gauze has come adrift ( suspected that was the thumping sound!) spark electrodes have crumbled, central insulation plates have seen better days and most of the strip seals ie combustion box door seal etc have perished, all these items are on order to replace and I suspect that the lack of annual maintenance has just brought about the failure but, do I need to look further???

I had the same problem (amongst many) with the 130HE and it was indeed the combustion chamber door seal, which crumbled away in one corner after only a couple of years. I replaced the seal with a high temperature seal from the local plumber's merchant. I agree with Kev, the screws do work loose and if the door isn't tight a temperature sensor outside can register an overheat condition, which prevents the boiler from working and causes LE to be displayed.

I have never seen a seal fail on a boiler that age, or on a Baxi with that design. I have however seen plenty where the screws worked loose.
To be on the safe side you should always check the seals while your at it but I would be surprised if you need to change it.

From memory thats the fan overheat lockout. Remove the outer combustion chamber door (the quater turn fixings) now you can see the inner combustion chamber cover and the fan mounted below, check all the four pozi fixings on the inner combustion chamber cover are tight, these can work loose and this trips the fan overheat stat.

The fault will almost certainly be the seal around the combustion box door, remove case and inner door panel, you should now be able access combustion door, it has the electodes attached to it, remove the door and replace the seal around the outside of the inner face.
Once you have done this ensure that combustion door is tight when you re-fit it, reassemble outer door and casing and you should be fine.
